Homemade laundry detergent is made only from handy natural ingredients. You will notice how effective they are from the first use.
Baking soda is a natural product that acts as a deodorant and disinfectant, neutralizes the pH, if your products are too acidic or too alkaline and makes the fabrics softer.
On the other hand, the soap we use to make the detergent is an ordinary soap, which in ancient times was used to wash the laundry by hand. It is made of natural fats, coconut soap, glycerin soap or Marseilles soap.
– 1 or 2 homemade soaps
– 2 cups of borax
– 2 cups of baking soda
– Optional: essential lemon or lavender oil
Tools you need to prepare this homemade laundry detergent
– A bucket
– A medium sized pot
– A wooden spoon
How to prepare?
You need soap flakes so you have to grate the 2 pieces of soap, to obtain 2 cups of grated soap. Boil in a pot 1 liter of water and these 2 cups of soap in which you will periodically mix with a wooden spoon.
In the bucket add borax and baking soda. Then add the soapy water and mix well with the wooden spoon until all the ingredients are dissolved.
Then, if you want, add some essential oil to provide a scent of detergent.
Add 15 ml of oil and mix again. Cover the bucket.
Put the prepared mixture into small bottles or jars, and then store them in a dark place. Mix every time before use.
